Letter to Newspaper Praises Caring Staff
By Marvin Ellis,
Tyler Courier Times Telegraph, Tuesday, July 27, 1999
This note is to praise the hospital staff of East Texas Medical
Center. I'm still remembering them from '85. The Tyler neurosurgical
team, Dr. Ledlie, my surgeon, the nicest and most caring doctor;
Dr. Mark Race and the Rehab people on the 4th floor at that
time; all the people on the third floor in the circle (telemetry),
head nurse Betty, Carol, Diane, Joe Domm (old blue eyes),
Danny Miller who helped me get dressed when my daughter was
working and wheeled me to rehab like he was my son.
Dr. S. Roberts and team made the water flow again. He always
smelled so nice. All these caring people with God's help made
the difference in learning to walk again after neurosurgery
and stroke during surgery.
Thanks to the three R's as a way to reflect and say I still
remember and include them in my prayers with love and thanks.
Dr. Ledlie said I would be walking when I went home and that
he would dance a jig on the very day. Oct. 6 my daughter was
at the front entrance taking me home. Dr. Ledlie appeared
and he did dance a jig. (What a happy day!!!).
I was 80 on July 16th, can't dance but thank God I'm still
walking and doing great. I've even had a trip by plane (3
weeks' vacation) to Anchorage, Alaska (the last frontier).
God is good and God bless those lovely people always.
