But much to my surprise, and delight, he said that he would not recommend surgery at this time based on my MRI and my feedback. Dr. Detwiler performed surgery on me in 2005 to relieve facial pain. The experience was much more bearable knowing he was doing it. It was successful. More recently, I had to return for recurrence which was always a possibility. During the return of my symptoms this time he and his staff were patient, caring, and accommodating. Dr. Detwiler always take time to listen and answer all questions and provide professional consult. His staff of nurses and office staff were extremely helpful and patient with me as I was experiencing pain and not of best demeanor. I would highly recommend them.

I’ve not had any issues from the procedure and feel like my life has been given back to me.

I went to Paul Detwiller in February of 2015. I had a herniated disc at the L5-S1. PAIN radiated from the left cheek down to the top of my calve with pain consistency of 4 and spikes to 10 when standing or twisting. Paul met with me outside of his normal consultation schedule to review my MRI. His assessment lasted no more than five minutes with diagnoses of surgery. This intimidated me so much that I requested an Epidural steroid shot. He told me the shot should last about six months and it would NOT help me but we could try it. The shot lasted three days. I was in more pain after it wore off than before the shot. He seen me again outside of my schedule appointment and said you need surgery. Still hesitating I set an appointment for the surgery but requested another Epidural steroid shot (in hopes to not have the surgery at the age of 32). He approved the treatment. That shot relieved the pain for one day. I kept my appointment for the surgery in late April first of May. I was supposed to have six weeks of recovery. I went back to work in four weeks post operation. I’ve not had any issues from the procedure and feel like my life has been given back to me.
